My Great Adventure: Day Four, Part 2
Oct. 1st, 2017 11:34 amJakob was the first to arrive. He said hello and went to his drum kit. David, Carsten, Alex and Christian weren't far behind. We talked a little about their trip to San Francisco, and the redwoods they'd also gone to see. Everyone looked rested and ready to rock.
I tried to stay out of the way as best I could. I overheard someone mention they were thirsty, so I went to the green room and grabbed as many bottles of water I could carry, and handed them out to everyone.
Sound check began.

My fourth soundcheck, and still just as fun as the first.
Again, my memory blurs. I'd received a few texts from Mark and Marie to let me know they were on their way, and where everyone would be meeting up later. Jeff "Doc" Mayer, my roomie from the SLC concerts, had spontaneously been able to make it to the show, so I was keeping an eye out for him, and Felipe from Brazil was going to be in attendance, but didn't know if he'd have internet access once he got there, so I was watched for him as well.
I don't remember if it happened exactly this way, but it seems that at one point during the soundcheck I turned around and Doc was suddenly there! It was great to see him again, and we exchanged cell numbers so we could stay in touch throughout the day. He was staying relatively close by. We made plans to meet up later with everyone at the Continental.
I'd been making periodic updates on Facebook, and Mike Schwartz had commented on my picture of the show poster that "You might want to get that". To be honest, I hadn't even thought of that until he said something, but as soon as I read his comments, I started thinking of what I could do. Luckily, I had the exact tool I needed to get started ... my all-access pass!
The soundcheck now over, I began my quest. Remembering how helpful Patrice had been earlier, I started looking for the interior ticket booth window, or something like it. While I was looking, I found the managers office instead, stuck my head in, and ask about the poster. They were nice as couold be, and gave me the phone number for the actual manager. After some explanations, he asked me to check after the show.
I went upstairs to the green room. Kristoff was watching what sounded like soccer on his laptop, and no one else was around. I grabbed a drink and dug out my notepad to do some more work on my little project, which was coming along nicely. After a bit, I realized I hadn't seen the band since sound check ... I texted Marie to ask when they were going to the Continental, and she told me they were already there!
That's what I get for losing track of the time. I gathered up my belongings, and headed to the street.
The Continental was just a few blocks away, so it didn't take me long to get there. I walked through the bar to the back patio area.
And there they were.
