I'm not sure what came over me today, but I'm not going to argue with the amount of energy and ambition I had. Got about half of my vehicle cleaned out- the most important part was getting the paperwork out of there that I've been carrying around for YEARS because there was no place to store it at the hotel. Finally, enough was enough, and I went through it, threw out what I could, bundled up cables and such I wanted to keep, cleaned up my cupboards at the hotel, and put three boxes into the storage space I've been able to claim in one of the hotel's closets. Now, there's just some miscellaneous junk in there that I need to sort through, and I'm done. I put my back seats up again! I would like it to be empty except for my emergency travel bin.

I finished around 6:30 Saturday morning, and headed straight from the hotel to the grocery store. Normally, I'd be dragging and zombie-like by then, but I was holding together pretty well. Took me another 45 minutes to get all my groceries, then home I went. I put the groceries away, fed Jinx, loaded the dishwasher, took out the trash, and was in bed by 8. Spent another 15 minutes doing my normal winding-down routine (reading the latest FMLs and Rage Comics on my iPod) then fell asleep.

And woke up at 12:30. And that was it for sleeping!

I can't say I felt rested, but I didn't feel tired, either. And as soon as I got on my feet, I felt energetic again. Like dancing with myself energetic. I got some food and puttered around and then went outside to paint.

Before.

Jinx had to be shut up in the house, because he insisted on trying to help.

Nearly there.

And done!

It looks much better, but really needs a second coat. The paint doesn't stick to the aluminum siding as well as I would like. Plus, I did it with a brush, which was time consuming. I'll probably get some rollers and go over it again tomorrow, if my ambition holds up. And of course, now I want to do all the trim, not just what faces the street! And the front door. And the steps. And the skirting, but maybe I'll do that next weekend.

And then there was this squirrel ...

We have a lot of squirrels in our yard this year, and they're getting pretty fearless. Jinx still ocasionally chases them, but he seems to have lost interest for the most part. I have no idea how old he is; he does have more gray in his coat every year, so maybe he's just past his hunting prime.

Squirells are cute and fuzzy, but they're filthy creatures that can really damage a home and its contents if they find their way inside. I know this from experience.

The top five winners of the 72 Script Fest begin to be announced today, 9/16. I'm trying not to get my hopes up still, because I don't want to be disappointed, but yeah- I'm excited.
