Well that wrapped up quickly.

Honestly? This entire series could have been done in 4-5 episodes, easily, and been better for it. There was lot of filler- granted, it was dramatic and emotional, but filler all the same. And thanks Starz for spoiling part of the ending in the previews directly before the episode began, by showing the scene where Jack and Gwen run away from the building, his shirt bloody and in tatters with perfect skin underneath. If you know Jack, it's obvious what's happened.

Still, some nice twists at the end. Didn't expect Rex to live and Esther to die, and didn't really expect Rex's resurrection at the end, although as soon as he was shot, I turned to Andy and said "Watch him come back to life, like Jack." Andy was upset earlier at the possibility of Jack's death, and clapped when he came back to life. And it was enjoyable watching Gwen smack down Jill, although I can't remember if the two of them had ever met before this episode.

Gwen was looking especially freckly, and Rhys was given a really nice emotional scene to play.

And some nice throw-away Doctor Who references in this episode as well.

Still, the next series has been well set up at the end, if it ever happens. I've heard rumors that ratings have not been great, so who knows.

Final verdict? This would have been a great 4-5 parter. I would have much rather seen the ten episodes done as two separate story arcs. As it was, it was just too loose with too much filler to really enjoy (although I did enjoy it- I'm just sad for the unrealized possibilities). I'm not sure it was enough to win over anyone who wasn't already fan of Torchwood, although Andy liked it enough to want to see a new series, as well as wanting to go back and watch the first two seasons (He started with season 3.)

And yes, I'd like to see another season as well.
