Well, I'll have a fun story to tell you about a walk in. I worked overnights on weekends at my hotel, and took last weekend off. I'm ready for another weekend off now.
Redneck woman comes in, wants a room, I quote her the price for standard room, two queen beds, non-smoking; she starts getting lippy about the room having two beds, because they're a married couple, and they only need ONE, I repeat that it's our standard room. She says it's ridiculous, and says "I bet that's your cheapest rate, too" and asks if we have a military discount, I quote her the price, she digs out a military id.
While I'm typing info in, she asks me how far it is to Yellowstone; I tell her 4 hours. She gets huffy and shocked, like I'd just told her she had to walk through dogshit to get there. I told her that Wyoming is a large state. She said "Yeah, and it's full of rude people too. I'm from Texas, and as we were pulling on to the highway a big white truck threw a bag of SOMETHING at us and flipped us off. Luckily we were able to drive around it." She talked really fast too, which didn't make her seem any less ugly.
So, I'm getting ready to print out the reg card, and she pulls out a $100 bill and throws it down,. I inform her that if she is paying cash, we require a cash deposit or a credit card on file. Again, it's like I threw shit at her. She pulls out a credit card and says really snottily "You're not going to put any HOLDS on this, are you?"
I'm getting sick of her shit, and tell her that yes, I will be pre-authing the card for the amount of the room, in case of damages. She gets belligerent and says the money is on there, but it's ridiculous, she knows that she's paying cash, but she stayed at a Day's Inn in Colorado that didn't do it, and she asks me if all the other hotels in town do this, blah blah blah.
So I'm sick of the crap. She's insulted my hotel and the state I live in; and I don't want her here. I stop what I'm doing and tell her that while I don't know their policies, I think that there are other hotels in town that would suit her better. She gets red and stomps towards the door, saying, "I think they would, because YOU'VE got an ATTITUDE. I bet it was YOUR relatives that threw the bag at us!"
I said, "It's unfortunate that they missed." and she stormed out.
