Ok. First draft of October's column is finished. Just shy of 1,200 words. That only took what, two and a half hours? *sigh* I write too slowly. I need to pick up the pace- I still have a second column to write for a special tab coming out in a week. Both columns need to be turned in by Wednesday at the latest.

I need to pick up the pace- I still have a second column to write for a special tab coming out in a week. Both columns need to be turned in by Wednesday at the latest.
The last paragraph of the second column (about first cars) reads:
Those vehicles are long gone now (although that hood is still tucked away in the corner of the barn.) What I drive these days is far more sensible, and much less adventurous. But while my first wasn’t as glamorous as I would have liked at the time, looking back now- I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I think driving home tonight, I’ll leave my highbeams on the entire way, just for old time’s sake.
And maybe my headlights, too.
Even though it kinda makes sense in context to the rest of the column, I'm thinking that I may be better off leaving out those last two sentences. Eh, I'll sleep on it.

A productive day
Oct. 2nd, 2011 05:24 pmWoke up after 3 hours of sleep; figured it was either get up then, or I'd sleep for far longer than I wanted to. Had to pee anyway.
Got some coffee in me and then got started doing some work around the house. Wrapped Ike's couch in plastic to hopefully help contain any future explosions he may have. While working on the couch, I noticed that the wall outlet was broken. The hallway light switch has been acting up as well, so I made a trip to the hardware store for some parts and played electrician for a little while, replacing both broken components.
Cleaned and vacuumed the carpets. Did multiple loads of laundry. Took the stove top off and sprayed it down with oven cleaner to get the burnt on grunge off (it's still in the yard with a second dose). Scrubbed clean under the stove top. Put parts through the dishwasher. Called my father. Worked on the cash register computer system for the business next door that two people told him would never run- including the company that sold it to him. Just finished putting the finishing touches on it; yes, I have it working properly. It's a $2,500 system and I have no idea how much to charge him. Called my grandmother. Drank two cans of Chelada.
I still need to scrub the kitchen floors and clean the bathroom and replace the toilet seat but right now- I'm bushed. And hungry.
