Tuesday morning at work, I sneezed. And something tore in my back, right where I had the surgery two+ years ago. I not only felt it, but I heard it too, in a way. It felt/made a sound like tearing the drumstick off of a Thanksgiving turkey; a sort of meaty, greasy schlurp/pop. The pain was exquisite.

It's been slowly improving since then, but every time I sneeze or suppress a sneeze, it pulls again. While it hurts less each time this happens, it still hurts.

Just to really make this fun - it's allergy season. :(

You describe the noise _very_ well, and I feel your pain every time hayfever makes you sneeze. Strapping it should help a lot, as - probably - would a dash of ibuprofen. But scarfman's right, maybe you should check with the people who did your surgery, just in case ...

It's funny how often painful body injuries can be described in a food-like way, lol. The surgeon I had was such an ass that he's the last person I ever want to speak to again, but if there's no improvement in the next few days, I'll stop in to see my regular doctor. If nothing else, maybe he can give me a strong antihistimine.

yes, I was aware of the cost of just being told that it was a pull. I also intuited that you might be unhappy with the surgeon.

I am working on a food analogy for the two times I heard an ankle bone snap (the first a careless rebreak by an over-enthusiastic? careless? sadistic? fracture clinic consultant who had taken a dislike to me; the second a misstep down from my own front door) but it is making me feel nauseous. Will let you know ;)

Hope it's improving.
