I'm trying to join ASCAP (American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers) so a song I wrote can be released on CD ... but I can't join ASCAP until after the CD is released ...

if i'm wrong, just go with BMI - the two are basically the same.

I'm dealing with someone in Germany, and I think the initial message got garbled in translation ... I think the deal is it's easier for them to pay me if I'm a member of ASCAP, but the song can still be released first on the cd, which will then qualify me for membership. I know it's been performed in public a good number of times, which may qualify it for ASCAP depending on the venue.

But I'll still look into BMI, too. Thanks!
