We played some Demigod with the new DLC, and it was fun but isn't going to hold my attention for long. I do still have a number of games that I bought and never really played: Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, The Witcher, Two Worlds, Age of Empires 3. I may load up Civilization 4 again and play a few rounds. I'll need to hunt up some no-cd cracks, because I HATE switching disks around, lol. I'm starting to lean more towards buying my games from online services like Steam for just this reason, and also because I long ago ran out of shelf space. Which is also why I canceled my membership to Science Fiction Book Club. It served me all too well.

Witcher is awesome, very gritty dark fantasy. There's some laughably controversial "adult" content in it, from swearing to pictures of nekkid ladies. But what's really amazing is the depth of the world lore, and the feel of epic combat. Geralt starts off pretty bad-ass, even a bit legendary, and just gets more awesome as you progress. And the musical score is above par even for the genre -- I've got it on my iPod, makes for good tabletop RPG background music.

Also, if you like Diablo, check out Torchlight -- it's going on Steam for $20, and it's pretty much Diablo II with prettier graphics, updated engine, slightly different backstory, and simpler gameplay. It was designed by the same team as Diablo, the Blizzard North crew who left to do Hellgate London, then left to form Runic Games when Hellgate tanked. They even got the same guy to do the musical score and sound effects, so it even *sounds* like Diablo...

Andy played Torchlight, and liked it. i can't remember if it had multiplayer or not. If it does, I'll snap it up right away.

I like my multiplayer games, I do.

No multiplayer, but it looks like the Torchlight single-player game is just the beginning, and they plan to turn the game engine and setting into an MMO. Not that the world needs yet another MMO, but in this case you can't beat the cost -- from what I've been hearing, it's going to be free-to-play, and will come as a free upgrade to the single-player.
