While brushing my teeth this evening, I experienced a sharp, metallic stabbing pain in the side of my mouth. Seems a rather large chunk of a molar broke away near the gumline. This is a tooth that I've never experienced any trouble with, oddly enough. I'll see what the dentist says Monday.

OW. Sorry man, that sounds really painful.

Luckily, it's waaayyy in the back, where the fleshy parts of my jowls cover and protect it. But I have to be really careful when I drink or eat anything.

When it first happened, I thought it would be a good idea to put some Ambesol on the spot, to numb it.

It felt like someone took a pick-axe to my face. Over and over and over. Not fun.

Here is an ex dental office worker's guess:

"We will remove that tooth."

Well, drat- I'm afraid of that. It's a molar that's being held in place by the one remaining wisdom tooth I have, that cleverly decided to grow perpendicular to the rest of my teeth and just outside of the rots of the now-broken molar. I'm actually fairly sure that this molar must have broken because of pressure the wisdom tooth is probably putting on it. So I'm worried that it won't be just a simple extraction, but some some over-the-top production involving dancing girls, trained bears, and oral surgery.
