I think these are the last of the old movies bubbling up into my psyche ... at least for now.

That's My Name, Don't Wear It Out

A young deaf boy some how befriends the neighborhood bully. The bully decides he doesn't want to be friends, and runs away, falling off a stack of pipes to his doom, only to be rescued by the deaf boy. I'm not sure what this movie was supposed to be teaching, but what stuck with me was that, when in trouble, escape from the police and seek out the help of a burly bear-like hippy with a guitar who is a complete stranger.

Sadly, this is the only clip I've been able to find:

The Johnstown Monster

Regretfully, I only saw this movie once. I'd love to see it again. the song in the movie still kind sticks in my head.

This clip only vaguely jives with what is in my head. I do know I had a crush on one of the kids in the movie (I was the same age as them, if not younger, when I saw it!)

Winter of the Witch

My brother enjoyed this one far more than I did, I think. See, frequently in elementary school, and entire grade would get together to watch a movie. And the same movie would be shown throughout the day, until every grade had seen it. This movie involved a young boy leaving his home in the city with his mother. All there possessions had been loaded up in there VW Bug. He forlornly played a small melody on the piano that had to be left behind. They arrived at a large mansion in the middle of nowhere. A witch lived in the attic (of course). The boy befriends her, she makes magic pancakes that makes anyone who eats them happy, they open a restaurant, the end.

The entire film appears to be on youtube, which is awesome, and even MORE awesome, it is available on DVD! I'm not sure how reputable the dealer is, however, but it's still going on my Christmas list for my nephews.

Oh look, it's another movie by the Learning Coproration of America. And I'm pretty sure the witch is played by Ann Wilson of Heart.

The Two Little Bears

Two boys can turn into bears when they wear their bear masks and rub grease on their faces, due to a magic spell. I saw this one in church when I was young- surprising, considering it's about witchcraft, really.

No clips for this one, unfortunately. It had Brenda Lee in it!

My final movie is sadly one more I cannot find.

movie teen girl teen boy oreos snowbound car wolves

A girl meets a hunky boy at the local roller rink. It's the 0s, so he has hunky hair.  She needs a ride ... somewhere. The interstate is closed due to the snow! It must be Wyoming! Hunky luckily knows a shortcut they can take, in his trusty VW bug (Someone on staff at The Learning Corporation of America must have had one that they let them use all the time. I swear it was always the same one.)

They get stuck in the snow. They have one pack of oreo cookies to share. He gets out to pee, and is attacked by a group of wolves (I still think this may be Wyoming). He some how breaks his leg. A plane flies over. They set the car on fire. They are rescued. Now wise beyond her years girl visits hunky in the hospital and brings him a pack of oreo cookies. The end.

ETA: Oh dear lord I found it. Which just proves that if you put in enough keywords, google will eventually puke up the right result.

It's called "Snowbound" and it was based on a book. Sadly, no clips seem to exist for this one.

Dear Lord you are right! I have been trying to figure out the name of an actor, if not the actual movie I saw, and I did what you said. I just typed as many words and phrases as I could think of that might be in a summary of the movie and I found a web site which eventually lead to me finding the name of the actor I was looking for!
Lothaire Bluteau! Yay! Because that name was no where in my brain, ever, at all, and all my searches for french canadien actors were not coming up with anything.
I was so close too. I put in gas station, but it was a hardware store. The movie I was trying to find is called Conquest, as in the name of the town Conquest Saskatewan.
