outsdrAh, the joys of travel. See. normally a trip out of Wyoming takes about a day and a half. A six-seven hour drive to Denver , usually done the day before the flight, then stay at a hotel overnight in Denver, get to the airport, fly to DC, then a four hour drive to my parent's house, getting there sometime in the evening if I'm lucky, but usually around midnight depending on the flight; it's unusual to get a direct flight at a cheap rate, so usually there's at least one layover and plane change.
This time, I paid more money to be able to fly out of a closer city with a small airport. So, $700 gets me a two hour drive to the airport, then a 6 am flight to Salt Lake City, where I wait three hours before taking a flight to Cincinnati, then 30 minutes to change planes before flying to Pittsburgh and arriving at 6 pm, then a two and half hour drive to my parent's house.
Returning, I get to fly out of Pittsburgh at freakin' 5:45 am, fly to New York, wait three hours, fly to Denver, wait three hours, then finally fly to Casper, arriving at 5 pm, then drive two hours.
Traveling out of Wyoming is a big ol' pain in the ass. Especially last minute travel.
