My editor made me change the phrase "clung to me like a one-night stand unwilling to say goodbye" to what you read above. Oh well. Sometimes, I throw something completely over-the-top into my columns, knowing it will be changed, just so some of the other stuff I write doesn't seem so bad in comparison, and therefore does not get changed.
