I'm experiencing a strange nostalgia for the '90s ... strange, because the 90s were NOT a good decade for me.

I stumbled upon this at YouTube:

A long forgotten song has now led me on the most unbelievable of listening sprees.

I have roughly ten ideas for next months column! Which I should be writing right now, actually, since they usually appear in the first Wednesday paper of the month. Problem is, each of the ideas has about enough meat to make one paragraph.

The most obscure 80s hit EVER ...

If I remember right (I was 11, so forgive me) the song got enough airplay and sales to reach the top 40 before being pulled due to copyright violations. (Wikipedia mentions nothing about this, so maybe my memory made it up or something. I dunno. Moar coffee!)

And now, the worst song to hit the top 40 in the 90s- so bad, that the ONLY
time I heard it on the countdown, they actually refused to play the
entire song! Just the opening line and the last line, and then moved on.
And yes, I just listened to the entire godawful thing to make sure it
was the right song.
I'm thinking it was the 90s' response to this song from the 80s:
