Just got back from seeing the Dark Knight movie.

- Certainly got my $6 worth with the length of the film.

- Christian Bale makes a good Bruce Wayne.

- Christian Bale is crap as Batman

- Heath Ledger made an excellent psychotic villain

- That villain, however, was not the Joker, but Tammy Faye Baker having a bad hair day.

- Heath Ledger does not deserve an Oscar for this performance.

- The story was enjoyable, but I feel that if I looked into the plot too closely, things would fall apart quickly.

- I really can find no fault with Two Face. However, why didn't Batman simply drape his cloak around Harvey Dent's face, considering he knew the building was going to explode? I may not have seen it clearly, but it sure looked like Batman was trying to extinguish the flames by feebly batting at them with his cape. The world's greatest detective apparently doesn't know how to smother a flame. I'm surprised he didn't pour water on him.

- I appreciate how believable (excluding the Joker)  this movie was. I never felt that Gotham was anything but a real city, filled with real people. No campy jokes. No over-the-top villains (including the Joker). No signs of sliding headfirst into laughability like the 90s Batman movies. The villains were well-integrated to the story, and one of the three felt like the were taking time or story away from the either two.

- While I doubt it was on purpose, I enjoyed seeing Batmanuel cast as the mayor.

The movie certainly didn't live up to the hype. I was expecting a mind-altering movie of epic proportions, and what I got was an acceptable return for $6 and two and half hours of my time. Considering the current state of movies being produced, I'm happy to have gotten that. While I'm glad I saw the movie, if for no other reason than to be able to say that I have seen it so that I can put a stop to people telling me that I MUST see it, I have no reason to see it again.
