Argh I hate dating
Aug. 1st, 2007 12:42 pmOk, so...
I work for a newspaper. Our parent newspaper & publisher is in the next town over, 30 miles away. About 2 months ago, they hired a new delivery driver to make the daily trips back and forth between our offices. I found him attractive, and for about a month, we sort of flirted back and forth (I think) and I was getting a "good vibe" from him (I think). So, I decided that the next time I saw him, I'd ask him out.
And he didn't come back for a month; finally showing up today making a delivery of paper end-rolls. I helped him unload the rolls, and it turns out he was put onto a different route. So, I knew it was now or never. I had prepared one of my business cards with my number and email address written on the back. The loading dock was full of paper boys, and I didn't really want to ask him out in front of them, so I followed him back to his truck and almost choked, of course.
Two things to keep in mind: It's been a really really long time since I've asked some one out face-to-face; and I live in Wyoming. Usually I'm VERY sure about the orientation of the person I'm asking out BEFORE I ask them out; this time, however, all I had to go on was my gut and his lack of a wedding ring.
But, I worked up the small amount of dating courage I had and blurted out "Here's my number, if you ever want to call me."
And he looked totally puzzled and then said, "thanks".
So- I have no idea where this may go.
