TV Question

outsdrDoes anyone else remember a late-80s early-90s syndicated sci-fi/superhero show which featured the first astronaut to Mars, who returns to Earth to find his father (?) has been murdered while he was away. He joins the police force (?) and uses technology from his Mars trip, mainly a variation of his strength-enhancing space-suit, as well as electrical police batons, to find his father's murders and then fight crime. His father's personality has been recreated in a computer, which displays a Max Headroom-like head, only blurry.
Of course, I can't remember the name of the series. It usually aired very early in the morning.
ETA: It was live action, and while not necessarily an adult show, it wasn't dumbed-down for kids.

ETA Yet Again: I totally forgot it had Patrick Macnee in it, lol.
