Damn, but I'm pissed off

There's a local email list that I subscribed to, because while it's normally just for yard sales and such, recently there was some discussion about the newspaper I work for on there. I remain subscribed, and lately there has been a big discussion about the marriage initiative that just got killed in the state senate for the third time; it would have set Wyoming's definition of a marriage as only being between a man and a woman, even if the marriage was done somewhere else.

So one winner posts this: "I am a believer in liberty and choice."


Ok, good enough. But then he follows up with this:

"homosexuals already have the right to marry, as long as their spouse is of the opposite sex.  They aren't being singled out, they are singling themselves out.  They already have the same rights as the rest of us."

What a smug, condescending asshole. I've been so angry that I haven't even been able to formulate any kind of answer. He has also played the "I have gay friends!" card. I wonder if they want to smack you, too.

Fucking lame, I'd be angry too. Certain elements of my family are like this too, and they use me as their token gay as proof that they're somehow not backward or bigoted. I bet they don't mention the fact that when they go shooting off their mouths that I'd love nothing more than to impale them with a spear or seven.
