Unfortunately, dry cat food makes him vomit*. But of course, he still wants to eat it, and there have been times when he'll ignore his canned food and eat from the dog's pan.
And then throw up.
So, he has a bowl of dry food outside where he can eat what he wants and throw up in the bushes, and gets canned food inside the house.
*(Long story short: Last December, he ate a bird, feathers and all which messed up his digestive tract. After three months worth of trips to the vet at least weekly, we determined the best way to treat him was to stop giving him dry cat food.)
