The Thumb

So, the thumb continues to heal. It's been a week since the surgery. I haven't heard back on whether it was a malignant tumor or benign; I'm taking the lack of an answer as a confirmation that it's benign. Monday, I'll go see my doctor to have the sutures removed. Yesterday, while changing the bandage, I decided not to put an antiseptic cream on the wound, so it would dry up some and not look so gross and weepy and nasty. And dry up it did, looks quite nice now, it does, but the skin or the sutures or both tightened up due to the lack of moisture and the sutures are pulling now and they hurt. When i put on a new bandage tonight, I layered on a good dose of salve, and it's been more tolerable.

This work week has been insane- it's the busiest it's ever been at the paper. We had two special tabloid supplements to do, as well as two special pages in Sunday's edition, and two other special pages for a 9-11 memorial, as well as the normal workload- and it was a 4 day work week. On top of that, I have that cover design I'm working on, which needs done by Monday, and I'm short one thumb.

I'm ready for this week to be over, and a new one to begin.
